The 12th Assembly District, comprising the northern third of Manchester, is represented by Ryan Barry. A lifelong resident of Manchester, Ryan is a graduate of Bowers Elementary, Illing Junior High School and Manchester High School. He received his Bachelors Degree from UCONN, where he studied political science. He graduated from UCONN Law School in 1999 and is currently the namesake in the Law Offices of Ryan Barry, LLC.
Ryan has been a member of the Manchester Democratic Town Committee for 9 years. In 1993, he spent an entire semester as a college intern for the Democratic State Senate Majority Leader. After graduating from UCONN, Ryan worked as a clerk to the General Assembly’s Appropriations Committee and volunteered for Larson for Governor, where he helped to coordinate the 2nd Congressional District. During law school, Ryan served as a legal intern to Senator Mary Ann Handley and volunteered for Larson for Congress. Since 1999, Ryan has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Greater Hartford Transit District. For the past year, Ryan has also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Student Loan Foundation.
Throughout Ryan's tenure, he has zealously advocated on behalf of the entire Manchester community. As chairman of the Banks committee, Ryan has established a credible platform from which to advocate for meaningful legislation, including reforming the sales tax code, medical malpractice insurance and corporate corruption. He has also worked diligently to obtaincritical money for school construction projects, Manchester Community College, children's mental health programs, and helping push legislation for the building of a new Manchester court house.
